MiAlgae, a high growth potential start-up in the algae production industry, is looking for a driven, proactive Research Assistant to work in its close-knit Edinburgh team. You will use your scientific knowledge and laboratory experience to move the company’s R&D forward. Your role will be to assist in the preparation and execution of experiments, while working closely with the existing R&D team to drive the company’s core focus forward.
This position will require you to work flexibly in a quick paced company that thinks out of the box and does things differently. This position will not be limited to a strict job description and will see the successful candidate working on a diverse set of problems.

The Research Assistant will work closely with the current R&D team, where they will assist in the preparation and execution of the experiments. They will be involved in the design of experiments and will be responsible for making up media, maintaining cultures, developing new protocols for the lab and generally assisting where needed. The Company is small and has a lot of room to grow, as such, this position will by no means be limited to a job description. The Research Assistant will be able to work independently and communicate effectively with the rest of the team.
MiAlgae is a start-up microalgae production company which utilizes circular economy (and nutrient recycling) in order to reduce manufacturing costs. The microalgal products generated are aimed at the agricultural feed industry. We are a green company and aim to contribute strongly towards the sustainability of the livestock feed industry. We are particularly interested in the aquaculture feed industry and the production of omega-3 oil supplements for their feeds. MiAlgae is currently in the process of completing the R&D work required to commercialize our product. The successful candidate will operate in a complex working environment with multiple stakeholders, competing priorities and limited resources.
