Senior Scientist (Fermentation)
MiAlgae is delighted to partner with Abercorn Sinclair as they seek to appoint a new Senior Scientist to their R&D team. Based at the Herriot Watt Research park in Edinburgh you will join a highly ambitious, dynamic early-stage company.
Founded in 2016, MiAlgae applies leading advances in science and technology to improve food security and reduce the impact of humanity on the planet. They aim to eliminate reliance on wild-caught fish as a source of Omega-3 by harnessing the potential of microalgae as a sustainable and rich alternative source. Their zero-waste solution recycles co-products from food and drink production to grow Omega-3 rich micro-algae, returning clean water in the process.
Reporting to the Head of Technical you will assume responsibility for all ongoing and future lab-based R&D projects. Working towards the company’s strategic goals you will ensure all projects are executed safely and efficiently, within allocated time constraints, and in accordance with all standard operating procedures and processes.
Liaising closely with the Lab Manager for administration and maintenance of the lab, you will also mentor and develop a small team of research scientists with additional responsibility for Ph.D. projects and MSc placements.
