Blue Food Innovation Summit 23rd May 2023

@Douglas Martin and @Polly Douglas had the pleasure of attending the @Blue Food Innovation Summit this week in London. The Summit brought together companies from across the globe to discuss forward-thinking approaches to aquatic food production, including sustainable aquafeed, seaweed, fish health and welfare.

Blue food is not about pitting aquaculture against fisheries, in fact, we all need to work together to benefit and conserve the health of our oceans. The topics of collaboration and transparency were recurrent threads throughout the Summit and we firmly believe that in order for us to move quickly towards our sustainability goals, we need to work together and be open in our conversations.

There were lots of interesting discussions around circular and regenerative feed ingredients at the Summit and there's a clear need for a greater range of ingredients like our newly developed NaturAlgae. Importantly though, new ingredients need to be able to compete on volume, consistency, and with comparable LCA results to match the more traditional ingredients.

We also were fed with tilapia, kanpachi and selva shrimp during our lunch breaks, a great addition to the menu. (Shout out to @Forever Oceans, @Regal Springs and @Blueyou Group).

We're glad that the Summit provided a space for collaborative relationships to be forged as there is a huge opportunity for the sector to raise its profile and get its message out to a larger audience.

Overall, the summit was a great opportunity for networking, one-to-one meetings and round table discussions, as well as all the panel sessions made for a fast paced and enjoyable event.  Thank you to the organisers @Blue Food Innovation Summit and @Rethink Event, to the speakers and everyone else involved.  We look forward to seeing you again next year!
